DOCUMENTATION WITH EUROPEAN COUNTRIES

The circulation and legal recognition of documents between Armenia and European countries is based on the application of the "Apostille". Armenia and most European countries are members of the Hague Convention of 1961, which excludes the complex process of full diplomatic or consular legalization.

PROCEDURE FOR CERTIFICATION OF DOCUMENTS (APOSTILLE)
If an official document issued in the RA (for example, birth, marriage certificate, diploma) must be presented to any state body of a European country, it must be certified by an apostille. It confirms the authenticity of the signature and stamp.

BODIES PROVIDING APOSTILLE IN ARMENIA
The Ministry of Justice of the RA
(for notarial, civil status acts and other official documents). It can be obtained both physically and online. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the RA (for original certificates and diplomas issued by educational institutions).

TRANSLATION AND NOTARIAL CERTIFICATION
For use in European countries, after confirming the document with an apostille, it is usually also required to perform its official translation into the state language of the given country and to certify it as well in a notarial manner.
